The Reign of the Judges

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

“…and thus they did destroy the government of the land.”  -3 Nephi 7:2
The California State Supreme Court this week struck down the public initiative, passed overwhelmingly in 2000, which strictly defines marriage as between a man and a woman. The precedent is historic and frightening. The effect of this ruling is to say that four [...]

Mormons and Catholics to Blame for Global Warming

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

“For the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare;” (D&C 104:17)
The conclusion drawn by Oliver “Buzz” Thomas in USAToday is frightening. In his April 21st editorial, “Might our religion be killing us?“, Mr. Thomas openly states that among others Mormons, with our encouragement for large families, and Catholics, with their opposition to [...]

Ironic

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Isn’t it ironic how we are just appalled at the lifestyles of the members of the FLDS church? How we are so concerned about the children being abused sexually. About the story yesterday of the underage girl giving birth to a baby.
The irony is that at this very moment in history, we are also talking [...]

A Conversation between a Leftist and a Mormon

Friday, January 18th, 2008

My friend Nate Walker is an excellent thinker with a near-flawless memory. I’ve never met anyone with a greater talent for distilling a situation down to its core principles. He recently handed me a few pages of his travel diary that documented this conversation with a liberal taxi driver with a Ph.D. while traveling in [...]

Intelligent Design, Darwinism, and Ben Stein

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Ben Stein’s new film, Expelled: the Movie, is being hailed by some intelligent design proponents as long overdue. The interesting part to me is that there are so many neo-darwinists that must tell everyone how wrong ID is, despite their claims that ID has nothing to offer. Well, if that’s the case, then why all [...]

Harry Reid’s BYU Visit

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

The fine folks over at Uncorrelated have a couple of good points about Sen. Reid’s visit to BYU. Harry Reid tried to pass himself off as a moderate Democrat to remain in good standing with the BYU crowd, but according to a fellow DCS member who was in attendance at the program, several points were [...]

Elder James E. Faust Passes Away

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Elder James E. Faust, Second Counselor in the First Presidency of the Church passed away on August 10, 2007. He was 87 years old. Elder Faust has become somewhat of an icon in my personal experience with the Church, having been in the First Presidency for almost as long as I can remember. It will [...]
