The Conservative Front endorses Jason Chaffetz

The Conservative Frontmebeli today endorsed Jason Chaffetz for Utahs’s 3rd congressional district over incumbent Chris Cannon and former Juab County prosecutor David Leavitt.

Chaffetz is know for his role as campaign manager in Jon Huntsman’s successful bid for the governor’s seat in Utah. Chaffetz later was named Gov. Huntsman’s Chief of Staff. During that time, Chaffetz was instrumental in engineering the end of the standoff between the state government and environmental activist groups over Utah’s Legacy Highway.

Chaffetz recently criticized Gov. Huntsman’s positions on Global Warming, calling the climate hype “a farce.”

Mormons and Catholics to Blame for Global Warming

“For the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare;”D&C 104:17

The conclusion drawn by Oliver “Buzz” Thomas in USAToday is frightening. In his April 21st editorial, “Might our religion be killing us?“, Mr. Thomas openly states that among others Mormons, with our encouragement for large families, and Catholics, with their opposition to birth control and abortion, are hastening the extinction of the Human Race.

Ironic

Isn’t it ironic how we are just appalled at the lifestyles of the members of the FLDS church? How we are so concerned about the children being abused sexually. About the story yesterday of the underage girl giving birth to a baby.

The irony is that at this very moment in history, we are also talking about 15 year old Miley Cyrus appearing partially nude in Vanity Fair magazine. Many of the same people who are clucking away about the poor children in Texas are silent where Miley is concerned.

How long will it be before Miley gets arrested for drugs or alcohol? Before she gets pregnant?

Maybe the whole situation in Texas isn’t about protecting the children…maybe it’s just about religion. It seems this has happened before. Why is there no outrage at the power the government claims to take children from their parents without due process? Simply because they are different, they shouldn’t have the same rights we do, right?

Quote of the Week

“Then there were a series of cheap shots that really ought to be beneath McCain. First, he talked about leading a naval squadron out of “patriotism, not profit.”

“Very nice coming from a guy who’s been on the government payroll his whole life, courtesy of those like me who are pursuing profits. I’ll keep that in mind next time I perform my quarterly rendering unto Caesar.”

Thoughts on Pres. Hinckley’s Death

Pres. Hinckley has been President of the Church since 1995. Seems like forever. None of my kids remember anyone else. He presided over the doubling of the number of Temples, and a period of phenomenal growth in membership.

A Conversation between a Leftist and a Mormon

My friend Nate Walker is an excellent thinker with a near-flawless memory. I’ve never met anyone with a greater talent for distilling a situation down to its core principles. He recently handed me a few pages of his travel diary that documented this conversation with a liberal taxi driver with a Ph.D. while traveling in Las Vegas. Read On…

Intelligent Design, Darwinism, and Ben Stein

Ben Stein’s new film, Expelled: the Movie, is being hailed by some intelligent design proponents as long overdue. The interesting part to me is that there are so many neo-darwinists that must tell everyone how wrong ID is, despite their claims that ID has nothing to offer. Well, if that’s the case, then why all the fuss?
